Anthony Ogden

Ph.D., Director of Education Abroad,
University of Kentucky –

Anthony C. Ogden earned his bachelor’s degree from Berea College and then later studied at the School for International Training (SIT) where he earned his master’s degree in International and Intercultural Management (MIIM). Anthony recently finished his Ph.D. at The Pennsylvania State University in Educational Theory and Policy with a dual title in Comparative and International Education. Anthony’s recent publications include, “The View from the Veranda: Understanding Today’s Colonial Student” and “Ethnographic Inquiry: Reframing the Learning Core of Education Abroad.” Both articles were published in Frontiers: The Interdisciplinary Journal of Education Abroad. Anthony has a chapter on the history of the diversification of geographic locations in the forthcoming publication, A History of Study Abroad: 1965 to Present, edited by William W. Hoffa. Other forthcoming publications include articles in The Language Teacher and Economy, Culture and History: Japan Spotlight. Anthony has traveled extensively and worked in several countries, including Japan, Vietnam and Cameroon. For over five years, Anthony served as the director for the Tokyo Center of the Institute for the International Education of Students (IES) and until recently, served as the associate director for the Education Abroad office at The Pennsylvania State University, where he worked with 2400+ students studying abroad annually on 190 programs in 49 countries. As an international education consultant, Anthony is now working to develop a new and innovative education abroad program in Japan set to launch in Summer 2010.
