FEA Book-a-Thon

Friday May 24th through Friday June 7th

Enjoy a wonderful story about study abroad and fund scholarships at the same time.

From Friday May 24th through June 7th, author Ingrid Anders will donate $3 for every e-book sold of her novel Earth to Kat Vespucci to the Fund for Education Abroad.

In her, award-winning and Amazon best-selling novel, Earth to Kat Vespucci, Ingrid Anders depicts the psychological and emotional adjustment of Americans studying abroad in Berlin, Germany.

FEA-BASAA Bowl-a-Thon

Join FEA, BASAA and your study abroad colleagues on Thursday May 9, 2013 from 6:00-9:00pm at Kings Bowling in Boston to raise funds for the 2014 BASAA scholarship. There is no cost to attend the event, however, all bowlers will be asked to collect pledges from friends, family and colleagues in support of the scholarship via a personalized fundraising page.

All proceeds will benefit the Fund for Education Abroad and the BASAA Scholarship.

Spin-a-thon!

Are you a spin class fanatic? Or have you never tried indoor cycling but wondered what the hoopla is all about? Come for 30 minutes, 60 minutes, or 90 minutes to Results’ March 22 Spin-a-Thon! This event is open to all who are interested, both Results members and non-members. Three of DC’s best instructors—Leticia, Richard, and Mark—will challenge you for 30 minutes each. There will be raffles, prizes, and a wonderful crowd for this exercise “happy hour.” Come ready to sweat, burn calories, and strengthen your legs and glutes—all for a great cause!  Click here to register now!

FEA Third Annual Reception

Proceeds from the third annual Fund for Education Abroad Reception and helped support our important mission of increasing access to study abroad. Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while listening to featured speakers and FEA leadership and scholars. Guests learned more about the importance of increasing access to study abroad from our featured speakers: Dr. Fanta Aw, Assistant Vice President, Campus Life and Director, International Student and Scholar Services at American University as well as the Incoming NAFSA President- 2013-2014 and Sarah Erdman author, travel writer for National Geographic Expeditions, and former Peace Corps volunteer.

All proceeds went to benefit FEA and our life-changing scholarships.

FEA Denver Bowl-a-Thon

Thanks to all who joined us on Monday, September 24th from 7:00-9:00pm at Moe’s Original BBQ for our first Denver Bowl-a-Thon & Bowling for a fun night of networking and bowling, all for a cause you work hard to support! FEA Crossing Borders Benefit

On November 9th at The George Washington University’s Jack Morton Auditorium, Director, Arnd Wächter will screen and answer questions about his film, Crossing Borders, as a benefit for FEA’s scholarships.  Interested individuals and Education Abroad enthusiasts are invited to join us for a private reception starting at 6:00 PM.  Cocktails and appetizers will be served and attendees will have the opportunity to talk with the film’s director, FEA board members and staff, and colleagues.  At 7:00 PM Crossing Borders will be screened, followed immediately by a discussion of the film. FEA Morning of Murals at the CIEE Conference

Check out some of the great murals we saw in Philly! Morning of Murals Photos Who says you have to go to Florence for frescos? Philly is full of them! Join the Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) for a Morning of Murals. Walk historic Philadelphia, see some amazing art, visit with colleagues and learn about new scholarships for study abroad. Meet in the lobby of the Loews Philadelphia Hotel at 7:15am on Friday, November 12 for a free FEA event, rain or shine. FEA Board members and staff will lead a casual, guided one-hour tour of Philadelphia’s famous mural mile. And you will be back in time for the first conference sessions at 9:00am. FEA will provide coffee and light snacks before the walk. Further details will be available at the FEA table in the exhibit hall or from any of the FEA attendees. FEA will also collect individual donations at the CIEE conference. See you in Philadelphia!

Gaga for FEA!

Thanks to an anonymous donor, FEA received two pairs of tickets to the July 1st Lady Gaga concert in Boston at the TD Garden.  So we had a drawing to raise money for our student scholarships! We are  excited about and appreciative for all of the generous donations that came in from the raffle. Congratulations to Suzanne Rommelfanger and Josephine Fatta our two lucky winners!  Have fun at the concert and thank you for supporting FEA’s scholarships.

NAFSA 2011

FEA participated in the NAFSA 2011 Conference & Expo in Vancouver, BC, May 29-June 03, 2011. Board members Kenya Casey, Candace Chenoweth, Jane Edwards and Mark Lenhart hosted a workshop on “Effectively Funding U.S. Student Diversity Abroad.”
